Zager Guitar Review By Charles levy

Product: Zager Baby Zager

Features : 10
The Baby Zager is a 3/4 guitar that has a flawless finish. I don't know all the names of the woods and components used but compared to everything I saw at 2 local dealers, this is the finest look of all.
Sound : 10
I am a novice player but I can tell you that it sounds better than my best friend's well-aged Martin. He is so envious. The 3/4 Baby Zager is playabe by my six year old - although she isn't really playing it.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Zager guitar came perfectly tuned and seems to stay in tune well well.
Flaws? None at all. I'm a surgeon and I look for flaws for a living.
Reliability/Durability : 10
The straps button are solid, tuning hardare top of the line; so I guess it will last a long time. Hopefully my daughter will be enjoying it many years form now.
Customer Support : 10
Well, ordering this guitar online was as easy as any online purchase. The Zagers responded to the purchase with notifications of the order, when it was sent and when it would arrive. Bingo - there it was! They included a new set of strings and a pick with the guitar.
I have since ordered a case by phone and they handled that as nicely as before.
Overall Rating : 10
I and my wife are novices We did our research at local stores and online. We wanted a guitar that was easy on the fingers, sounded like a great guitar and that would be a bit smaller for a young child to play if she became interested. The popular wisdom is to get a fine guitar rather than a cheap one as the child will instinctively not play a bad sounding guitar. The Baby Zager sounds so good that she is picking it up and strumming it on her own - Just like they predicted she would!

Zager ZAD 50 Review By Saltwaterjack

Features : 10
Great features for a 20 fret acoustic guitar. Great fit and finish. I went with the black model and the looks and finish are beyond my wildest dreams.
Sound : 10
It fits my sound requirements to a tee. Not just the best sounding guitar I've played but I have received great remarks from my guitar teacher on the fit, sound and value.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar looks as good as it plays. Every guitar is played and the final tuning prior to shipment is done by Denny Zager himself. He makes all the final modifications to the guitars. I like that it's coming from a small family owned company.
Reliability/Durability : 10
After playing this guitar for awhile and letting friends play it, I've been so happy with their comments. Like it sounds 200% better than their guitar.
Customer Support : 10
I had several questions about the Zager prior to my purchase. I communicated via e-mail in order to keep a complete file on the purchase. I have to say that each e-mail was answered within an hour in most cases and the answers were complete and to the point of my query. The lifetime warranty and guarantee with two of the reasons I bought my Zager Guitar. Spending a lifetime as a retail buyer with a very large retailer, I know what customer support is and what it means to the end user and the Zagers have it all together. Keep up the great work.
Overall Rating : 10
I bought the Zager for the sound quality and ease of play. I have fat fingers and the little more room between the strings really makes it easier to play. The setup of the strings closer to the frets makes the fingering so much easier on the fingers.
I would recommend this guitar to any player. Don't get stuck on a old guitar name, I'm glad I didn't pay thousands for a guitar I might not be able to play.

Great customer support. I asked many questions via Email and they answered all within minutes and made it clear I was welcome to call to talk personally to Mr. Zager. I didn't find a phone call was needed as the Email was fast and took care of my needs.
Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing constantly for over 30 years. I know what I like about guitars and I really like everything about this guitar!! If it were lost or stolen I would buy from Zager Guitars again period. I would do so just as fast as I could. I love the sound, the appearance, the neck, the action, the case, EVERYTHING! If you love top quality guitars (Martin for example) then check these Zagers out. I was determined to make a 4 figure Martin my next guitar. Partly because of the name. But mostly because of the sound and quality that I found in that line of guitar. I happened on the Zager website and read all the testimonials and saw the 100% money back guarantee and decided I had nothing to lose. I tried it and am totaly blown away. This is by far the most excellent guitar I have played including 3-4 thousand dollar Martins. It truly is!!! The only thing it don't have that I was looking forward to getting with my next guitar purchase is the Martin name. But I am very proud, now, to own this Zager guitar. It is the love of my life. I cannot imagine being more in love with any guitar!! I really can't say enough!

Zager ZAD 80CE Review By Robert Pedersen

Features :
The top is solid cedar and the sides and back are rosewood with a gloss finish. The neck is rosewood with 21 frets. There is abalone inlay on the neck, around the edge of the top, and the rosette is abalone as well. It has a Fishman transducer with a built-in tuner. The tuners are gold Grovers. I'm not sure what if anything else I would want in an acoustic guitar, so as far as I'm concerned it's got all the features I need and want. The built in tuner is one feature I wouldn't want to be without, and worth the extra money.
Sound :
I find the sound rich and full. I have not plugged it into an amp yet. I'm extremely pleased with the tone of this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The fit is nearly perfect. The finish has just a couple very small beads of varnish or whatever the clear finish is at the top end of the head. Other than that, the finish is perfect.
Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm not a professional, but the guitar seems very solid. I'm not the abusive type, and take care of all my stuff, and I expect this guitar to be with me as long as I wish!
Customer Support : 10
I have talked with the company several times, and found them to be very friendly. It's a BIG plus to have a human answer the phone, and when they're friendly and helpful, WOW! They have a 100% money back guarantee - if you don't like it, they will have it picked up and returned and pay shipping both ways plus refund the purchase price. Can't beat that! Their guitars carry a lifetime warranty.
Overall Rating :
I'm first a piano player. I have played around with guitars for several years, and quite frankly never was happy with the cheap ones I could afford, and just couldn't justify spending the kind of money I thought I had to spend to get the feel and sound I wanted. Because I traveled a lot, I ended up with a Baby Taylor that I kept for a few years. It lacked depth of tone, and it wasn't particularly easy to play, and so I sold it. Then I went shopping at local guitar stores, and discovered that I was going to have to spend 1500 or more on a Taylor to get what I really wanted. Since I'm not a pro, I didn't think that was the way to go. When I found Zager Guitar, I really felt it had to be to good to be true. Their guarantee gave me the courage to call and talk, and I decided to try them out. I ended up buying their most expensive model, the ZAD 80CE, with a case.
So, now I have an acoustic/electric guitar with a built in tuner, a nice sturdy case with a temp/humidity sensor for under a grand that looks good and sounds great! I think the biggest testament to it's sound and playability is the fact that I don't want to put it down! If you only own one guitar as I do, this model is a perfect choice. If you own many, you ought to have one of these as well! As an aside, they also include a set of strings (Martin) two picks and a t-shirt. These folks are doing everything they can to provide a serious musical instrument at a more than fair price in my opinion.

Zager ZAD 50 Review by Jeff

Features : 10
You can read the features from the many other reviews posted about the ZAD50. This one has a natural finish on the solid spruce top. Other than that they are all constructed the same. This guitar has no frills, its set up to play. I bought it as a gift for a friend. The case was extra. Both the guitar and the case were blems or 2nds, but I couldn't find anything wrong with either.
Sound : 10
I own an all koa Taylor and a spruce with rosewood back and sides Tacoma and this guitar has its own sweet tone. Its set up with extra light stings so you can't expect it to have a deep or strong sound, but if thats what you want you can amplify it. The sound is crisp and very warm.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar came set up by Denny Zager himself, and every thing fit very well and didn't have any problems anywhere. I purchased a 2nd or blem guitar and I couldn't see anything wrong with it other than there were some miner things in the grain of the spruce top which I think added character to the guitar.
Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I just bought the guitar for christmas for my friend so I can't answer that question as its brand new. It does seem to be built just fine by me.
Customer Support : 10
Zager Guitars is one of the things that sold me the most about this guitar. I had never played one previously and was uncomfortable about buying it until I learned of there money back guarantee that included shipping back. It gave me the confidence to buy and I wasn't dissapointed. They were very helpful about giving me any information I requested. They are a small family owned business that takes pride in what they do and seem to understand the importance of service and friendliness. It was a real pleasure doing buisness with them.
Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing about 30 years but only play when I have the time or get motivated. I play in church for praise and worship and just in my own home. I own a Taylor and a Tacoma guitar and this guitar plays easier than either of them. All three have their own tone but the Zager has a very pleasent sound. I bought this guitar for a friend and I will be recomending it to others. I think for the money I couldn't buy anything else new that compares for less than a Grand, probably more. I love my Taylor and my Tacoma and I could never sell either one of them but this guitar has features that they don't and that's the easy play feature. You can play this guitar much longer without fatigue or blood and thats what I love about this guitar.

Zager ZAD 50 OM Guitar Review By Peter Hyatt

Features : 10
Well made, perfect finish, strong neck. nice looking --actually have the OM model.
Features : 10
clear, loud, broad sound.
Rich sound, especially nice for finger-picking style. No buzzing in spite of low setting.
Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The day before I received this, I went to the local music store and played a $2,000+ Martin which I loved. This instrument was comparable, and perhaps had even a slightly better action feel. Quite amazing, given the reasonable price, though this may be due to the fact that the middle-man is cut out and it is a buy-direct operation. I had read many reviews about the action and was pleased to see for myself how accurate those reviews were. UPS cross-country in 1 week. Well packaged.
Reliability/Durability : 10
New guitar, but I give it the high rating due to the lifetime backing by the family owned business. After purchasing a Takamine last year, just 2 months later, the store did not want to know me when I came in about some questions regarding the neck and set up. I feel comfortable with the make of the guitar; it appears built to last.
I am very comfortable with the guarantee...the backing deserves a 10.
Customer Support : 10
Perhaps the finest customer service I have experienced in any field of business, including such places known for great customer service like LL Bean.
As many others have already written, I also prefer to buy "hands on" and not online, and because of that nervousness, I called many times, and e-mailed as often. I never wore out their patience and they were more than happy to answer every question I had.
Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since I was a teen, almost 30 years ago, and have owned a few nice guitars (Takamine/Ovation) in those years. I am sold on the Zager. I think it probably is best described as a really nice Martin clone ----it sounds quite comparable to the more expensive ($2,000 and up) Martins and the action/comfort is first rate. When I practice, I like to concentrate and get into a serious concentrating mode and being able to practice for several hours straight without sore fingers is of great benefit. Since I cannot afford to spend $2500 for a Martin that I really love, this is a great substitute. I absolutely will buy another if lost or stolen. I will buy another for my daughter and if my wife wants to play, I will get her a Zager guitar as well. I am sold on the loyalty of the family owned business.

Zager ZAD 50CE Review

Features : 10

Full size cutaway body, gloss finish, solid spruce top, built in transducer, on board equalizer, on board electronic tuner, scalloped x bracing, hand carved custom nut, hand carved custom saddle, hand filed frets, sealed grove tuner gears, abalone inlay rosette, tortoise shell pick guard, rosewood fretboard, 21 frets

Sound : 10
Great sound both as acoustic and with pickup. Rich and full sound. Equalizer has the ability to increase bass, mid and treble and presence which can change the sound quality for more full sound or to make it more honky ton like.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is an EZ-play set up Zager guitar. The action is extremely light. It is well balanced and a dream to play.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I have had this guitar since October 2006 and use it live every week. It is dependable and I do not feel I need to bring a back up guitar. I have broken strings while playing live and have been able to continue the song without anyone noticing the broken string as the sound quality is so good.

Customer Support : 10
This guitar comes with a 100% money back guarantee and a lifetime warranty. I have dealt with customer support and have nothing but good things to say. They respond quickly (within 24 hours) and often are available online to do live chat. They are helpful, friendly and care about their customers. In addition one of my family members bought me a Christmas gift through them and they were extremely helpful to that family member to make sure that they were purchasing a compatible product.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing music 40 years. I play a number of instruments including keyboard and guitar and until I bought this guitar I had a problem with sore fingers which impacted my keyboard playing. This guitar has solved all of my problems because it requires such a light touch. Until I found this guitar I thought I would have to give up on guitar playing because I could not afford anything over $1,000. I love the onboard tuner and the sound of this guitar. If it were lost or stolen I would replace it with another Zager in a heartbeat.
